Caregivers Help Elders Stay At Home Longer

“What are we going to do with our parents as their health declines?”
That’s a question more and more people are asking as the population ages.
According to the 2010 census, there were 26,640 people in Whatcom County 65 or older. As baby boomers retire, that number is expected to jump to 54,000 by 2020, mirroring a nationwide trend
For many people, home care is a smart option that enables a person, including a parent or spouse, with health problems or other limitations to continue to enjoy life at home.
“Working with an at-home agency has allowed my husband the kind of individualized one-on-one attention that simply couldn’t be possible in a skilled nursing facility,” says Joyce Bigelow.
