“CAN you make sure it has lots of stuff?” my mom regularly asked the server at her favorite Italian restaurant. Apparently, the minestrone soup was mostly broth with just a couple of noodles, which was unacceptable. “Really scoop it up,” she instructed, adding her nervous, friendly laugh. With her salmon, she demanded all sauces on the side, and an additional plate of lemon slices. Sometimes she brought her own dessert from the place she liked down the street.
